This week, there was a cancellation of the Caucus Meeting scheduled for Monday, September 6, because of the Labor Day holiday.

During the Regular Meeting, after roll call, prayer, and memorials, Councilmember Rivera brought to the floor Resolution #110 to "Prioritize Complete Street Construction on Niagara Street." A "Complete Street" is a street that is safe and accessible for all users, including people of all ages and abilities — regardless of whether they're traveling by foot, car, bike, or bus.

Complete Streets promote safe physical activity and can include the following:

• Sidewalks;
• Bike and bus lanes;
• Bus stops;
• Crossing opportunities;
• Median islands;
• Accessible pedestrian signals;
• Curb extensions;
• Modified vehicle travel lanes;
• Streetscapes; and
• Landscape treatments

Councilmember Rivera emphasized the City needs to finish the Complete Street construction in the North District. He argued whatever the requirements, there should be an allocation of funding — Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) money and other financial resources for capital improvements — to complete the project. Rivera notes portions of the street are "shovel ready" and waiting for completion. In response, Council President Pridgen said he "100% agrees."

Voting did not take place during the meeting. It adjourned after 32 minutes.
