Erie County’s operating budget is over $2 billion. What is the annual process to determine the budget, and how can you influence it?
Each year by October 15, the Erie County Executive submits a proposed budget for the following year to the Erie County Legislature for consideration and approval. This workshop will provide an overview of County Executive Mark Poloncarz’s proposed 2025 budget, sharing where the County gets its revenue, what the County spends most of its money on, and what has changed in recent years.
Colleen Kristich, Senior Community Researcher at PPG, will provide an overview of the annual budget-setting process, the proposed 2025 budget, and notable changes in spending and priorities. Caitlin Crowell, Community Researcher at PPG, will share tips for speaking at the Erie County Budget hearing to advocate for your priorities with legislators. PPG partners will join to share their past and current advocacy campaigns related to the County budget and how our public dollars are spent.
This workshop is in-person with lunch provided. Because space is limited to 25 participants, registration is required. Please register here.
