Learn how to share your story and message in interviews for TV and radio.
These interviews are a big opportunity to advance your advocacy, but being on camera or in front of a microphone can be intimidating! We’ll discuss how to prepare for an on-camera/on-air interview, what questions to ask in advance, how to communicate effectively during these typically short media appearances, and how to increase the impact of your segment after it airs. Hear directly from two experienced local broadcasters on what makes for interesting and effective interviews. In-person participants will have the opportunity to practice responding to questions on camera and receive feedback on their interviews.
This workshop will be hybrid, with spots for 20 participants in our classroom at 617 Main Street and more participants via Zoom. Register to join in-person by emailing BuffaloCommons@cornell.edu; register to join on Zoom at this link.
_______
This is part of a three-part series of workshops on working with the media; register for one, or join for all three:
1) Working with the Media: Get Your Story in Print
Wednesday, October 5, 12:30 – 2pm
2) Writing for the Media: Letters to the Editor, Op-Eds, and Press Releases
Wednesday, October 12, 12:30 – 2pm
3) Speaking to the Media: TV and Radio Interviews
Wednesday, October 19, 12:30 – 2pm
Workshops are free and open to PPG partners and the public. Because in-person space is limited, and because we’re providing lunch for in-person participants, please consider in-person registration a firm commitment to attend. Please let us know in advance if you can no longer make it, and we’ll offer your spot to someone else.
Please email andrea@ppgbuffalo.org with any questions.
