President Joe Biden asserts he is the most pro-Union president in US History.  One of his appointments, JENNIFER ABRUZZO, the General Counsel for the NLRB, is certainly making waves in her initiatives to protect workers’ rights to organize and bargain collectively.  The NLRB has never been so busy with large numbers of workers unionizing, unprecedented strike activity, and large numbers of Unfair Labor Practices filed.  All of this corresponds with high public approval for Unions, an incredible 77% approval rating from young people. 

Please join Cornell University ILR Buffalo Co-Lab on June 6, 2023, from 10-12:30pm for an in-person discussion with featured speaker, Jennifer Abruzzo, General Counsel, NLRB alongside leaders in the Labor Movement with ties to Buffalo; former NLRB General Counsel and Buffalo native Richard Griffin; Buffalonian Chairman of the NLRB Mark Gaston Pearce; and Buffalo Region 3 Regional Director and Regional Attorney Linda Leslie and Jessica Cacaccio.  Cathy Creighton, Director, ILR Buffalo Co-Lab will moderate the panel.    

This program will take the form of a Town Hall where speakers will share where they see the labor movement at this time in history, and what is happening at the NLRB.  Experts will address: recent organizing statistics, unfair labor practices and strikes in the U.S., the possibility of the PRO Act, employer responses to increased unionization, nonprofit organizing efforts, and more.  

This event is hosted by Cornell University ILR Buffalo Co-Lab with program assistance from NLRB Region 3, NYS Bar Association Labor & Employment Section, Buffalo Central Labor Council, and the Western New York Area Labor Federation. It is free, open to the public, and is intended for employers, activists, the labor community, government, elected officials, and staff.
