On Friday, May 5 from 10am to 12pm, PPG executive director Sam Magavern and a team of 15 UB law students will present their research on the transition from public assistance to employment. What are some of the key barriers and pitfalls that people experience as they start to earn their way off of welfare? What policy solutions can help to make the transition easier and enable more people to leave both public assistance and poverty behind? Topics will include:
• Childcare
• Transportation
• College education
• Criminal records
• Benefit “cliffs”
