Join us on The Public Good! We talk with Rebekah Williams of Massachusetts Avenue Project and the Good Food Buffalo Coalition. We discuss equitable food access and the importance of food systems during the COVID-19 emergency, and then turn to the big picture of "Good Food Purchasing" in the long-term.
Rebekah shares a stunning fact with us, when speaking about the Coalition's goal of increasing food system economic opportunities and farming by people of color: "According to the USDA Agricultural Census, the number of black farmers and native farmers are horrendously less than the number of white farmers. There are 57,000 farmers in New York State total; there are 138 black farmers and 126 Native American farmers."
Be sure to tune in live on Power 96.5 WNY/Mix 1080AM at 10pm, and on PPG’s Facebook page at 1pm on Tuesday, April 21st. You won’t want to miss it!
