On Friday, April 12th, the League of Women Voters will be presenting "speaker Greg Stevens, executive director of the Niagara River Greenway Commission in a program entitled "Connecting the Outer Harbor with the Niagara Greenway." Mr. Stevens will describe the plan to make Buffalo's Outer Harbor the Greenway's southern terminus. The event will take place at Scotch 'n Sirloin Restaurant at 3999 Maple Road, 14226. Registration begins at 11:30am, with the speaker at 12:00pm and lunch to follow.
The Greenway Commission’s mission is to establish a network of parks, scenic vistas, access points and trails along the Niagara River shoreline, while restoring its ecological health. Mr. Stevens became executive director in March 2018, after first serving as its chairman. Long concerned about the condition of the Great Lakes, he has dedicated most of his volunteer time to building organizational capacity to restore water quality and promoting public enthusiasm for the region’s waterfront. He chaired the board of Buffalo Niagara Waterkeeper from 2008 to 2013. His bachelor of science degree in biochemistry is from Harvard University.
Paid lunch reservations must be received by Monday, April 8. Checks for $18 should be made out to LWVBN and mailed to LWVBN, 1272 Delaware Avenue, Buffalo, NY 14209.
