The African American Cultural Center and PPG are hosting this workshop at the AACC (350 Masten Ave, Buffalo) on April 4, from 10am to 1pm. Please RSVP here to join for one-hour of making flags with us. You can RSVP for yourself only or for a group of folks from your organization to join. Spaces are limited, so please only RSVP if you can make it.

Children are welcome to join the workshop. According to the project team, Buffalo residents from age 5 to 85 have made flags! 

WHAT:
Blues: A May 14th Memorial Project is a collaborative community art making response to 5/14. 10,000 cyanotype flags will be made by community members to memorialize the victims and bear witness to the collective impact of this tragedy. Artists and community builders are facilitating workshops in venues throughout the city.

Participants will make flags – and each flag will become part of a sea of flags which will be installed starting on Jefferson Avenue and emanating from there symbolically stitching neighborhoods together. Participants make flags using cyanotype, a photo sensitive fabric that turns blue when exposed to light leaving traces of objects or words. These flags will become part of the memorial, raising the voices and visions of their makers. AFTER THE WORKSHOP:
You/your team can request to host a Blues Flag memorial workshop with your own staff, members, students, or clients. The project team is scheduling many workshops in the months ahead.
