The CCIA builds on the Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act passed in 2019, which sets legally binding emission reduction standards to transition New York off of fossil fuels by 2050 and mandates that 40% of state climate and energy funding be invested in environmental justice communities.

The CCIA would help fund ​a just transition to a renewable energy economy by making ​corporate polluters pay for the damage they’re doing to our climate and our communities. ​NY Renews is planning a powerful statewide week of action April 5th - April 9th to urge elected leaders to pass the CCIA in 2021. PUSH will share ways we can all get involved in this historic campaign.
